ABOUT ME

My full name is Genaro Suárez Castro. I am an astronomer originally from Susticacán, Zacatecas, Mexico, currently working as a postdoctoral fellow with the Brown Dwarfs in New York City (BDNYC) research group in the Department of Astrophysics, American Museum of Natural History in New York City. Before moving to NYC, I was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Western Ontario in London, ON, Canada. I earned my Ph.D. in Astrophysics and Master in Astrophysics from the Institute of Astronomy at UNAM in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico. I obtained my Bachelor's in Physics from the Unidad Académica de Física, Universidad Autónoma de Zacatecas in Zacatecas, Mexico.

I love learning about the cosmos using data from telescopes, specifically the physics and chemistry of brown dwarf and planetary atmospheres. I also like investigating the brown dwarf and star formation process through studies of the (sub)stellar initial mass function (Read more).

I am committed to making science accessible to all audiences through my involvement in outreach and community engagement programs (Read more).

When not researching, I like watching/playing sports, hanging out with family and friends, and working out. I also really enjoy science communication.
